Hey everyone, it is Jim, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I will show you a way to make a special dish, breakfast sausage. It is one of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This will be really delicious.
Breakfast sausage is one of the most popular of current trending meals on earth. It is enjoyed by millions daily. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes delicious. They are fine and they look wonderful. Breakfast sausage is something that I have loved my entire life.
To get started with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can have breakfast sausage using 12 ingredients and 10 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Breakfast sausage:
- Take 1 lb (.454 kg) ground pork or pork shoulder
- Take you can use either pork already ground or grind your own
- Make ready 1/2 tsp sage
- Prepare 1 1/4 tsp salt
- Get 1 tsp ground black pepper
- Get 1/8 tsp marjoram
- Get 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
- Take 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (+/- to taste)
- Prepare 1 pinch ground cloves
- Get optional -
- Get 1 tbsp maple syrup (+/- to taste)
- Get 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (+/- to taste… depending on how much extra heat you want)
Instructions to make Breakfast sausage:
- In a small bowl mix together everything except the meat
- Once the spices are mixed combine them with the pork in a large bowl (either mix well by hand or mix and run through a meat grinder with its small holed plate (not sure what it's called but the 1/8" dia. hole one)
- It is mixed let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (unless you're putting it into casings do that before you let it "rest")
- Then either leave it in bulk and freeze……or roll it out between two pieces of wax paper until it is about 3/8" thick and cut into patties with a circle cutter or a cup of the right diameter…
- Freeze the patties on the wax paper on a cookie sheet….once frozen cut the paper to separate the patties and place into freezer bags leaving the wax paper on it so they don't stick together
- Or you can stuff into casings the size you want and then freeze for later use.
- Note*While working with the raw sausage keep it as cold as you can…returning it to the refrigerator as you go so it doesn't get too warm….cold it is easier to work with and prevents bad bacteria from growing…
