- Sift together wholewheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and cocoa powder. Sift for 4-5 times

- In a mixing bowl, whisk together curd and oil
- Then add jaggery water and vanilla essence. Whisk nicely
- Add the beetroot puree and mix well
- Add the dry sifted ingredients slowly and mix the batter gently
- Grease an 8" round pan with little oil and dust with a tsp of wheat flour
- Add the cake batter to the greased pan. Tap it 3-4 times to remove any air blocks
- Bake at 170C for 30 min
- Test with a knife/tooth pick and ensure it comes out clean
- Let it cool completely before you slice them up
