- Make ready 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Make ready 1 cup Chana dal
- Get as needed Curry leaves
Capsicum chutney is totally new to me, had no clue about this chutney. I always love the colourful capsicum and tempted to buy. She had made this chutney using red bell pepper / red capscium. But I prepared it using green capsicum and slightly modified the recipe to suit our taste.
Instructions to make Idli with capsicum chutney:
- Chutney recripe:- Take 1 teaspoon of oil, add roughly chopped onions, ginger, garlic, dried chillies and saute.
- Once onions turn mushy, add capsicum and fry further. Later add 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes and saute till tomatoes are soft.
- Once this cools down, put everything in a blender, add 2 spoons of coconut,salt, coriander leaves and water.
- Blend it to a paste. Finish it up with tadka/oggaraney of oil, mustard and asafetida.
- For idli:-Throw some green chillies and ginger into the blender, make a seasoning of mustard seeds, chanadal and half dried chilli in coconut oil.
- Add this and the ground paste to the idli batter.
- Same can be followed for the rava idli batter. Today I prepared with rava idli mix.
- You can also add chopped coriander and curry leaves.
It came out very well & it tastes very similar to my tomato mint chutney. We loved it a lot with idli,dosa. I saw few capsicum chutney recipes with. Capsicum chutney is very delicious too and tastes too good with idli. Temper mustard seeds and urad dal in one teaspoon oil.
