- Prepare your ingredients and steamer ready. Always steam your cake with ready hot boiling water in the steamer and lid is wrapped in a tea towel.
- First, cream butter and sugar untill creamy and fluffy. Add in cream cheese and beat again.
- Beat in eggs one at a time until well combined. Beat to mix in between additions.
- Whisk in condensed milk, horlicks, milk powder then the flour. Mix well in between. Next, add a teaspoon of vanilla essence.
- Lastly, add gel food colouring. Divide batter into 3 portions and mix well. Line the bottom of your cake pan (8 inches) with wax or parchment paper. Pour the first red into the prepared pan and spread out evenly. Steam for 10-12 mins over medium heat. Before putting another layer of your cake, pop any visible bubble with clean toothpick then, press the cake lightly with cake presser or anything similar (refer pic below). Do the same thing with the second layer. Steam the last layer for 20-30min
- Once done off the heat. Remove the lid but Do not take the cake out immediately. Leave it in the steamer for maybe 5mins. After that allow it to cool completely before cutting.
