Even though it is a Miso soup, Tonjiru tastes very different from ordinary. Tonjiru or Butajiru (豚汁) is a soup made with pork and vegetables, flavoured with miso.   2. Heat Dashi Stock (OR Water) and Vegetables in a pot, and cook on a medium heat until vegetables are soft. Then add thinly sliced Pork.
  3. When Pork is cooked, add Miso and Tofu. Remove the soup from the heat just before it starts to boil.
  4. Sprinkle finely chopped spring onions, and serve. *Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Powder) is also recommended to add extra flavour.
