The ingredients needed to make Bagar rice !!!!:
- Get 1 kg Rice
- Prepare Water: 1 glass for each cup of rice
- Take 1 small onion
- Get 2 teaspoons Ginger garlic paste
- Take 4 tablespoons Oil
- Prepare to taste Coriander leaves
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Make ready 4-5 Cinnamon sticks
- Get 6 cloves
- Take 6 cardamoms
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
Multigrain rice or Japgokbap was not an easy rice to make in the old days before the invention of pressurized rice cookers or other cookers like the Instant Pot. - Wash rice & soak for around 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, start to prepare the cooking water:
- Pick a wok add oil let it get a little hot then add chopped onion slices. Let them caramelize until golden, then immediately add ginger garlic paste and simmer. It will splatter so cover it for few seconds.
- Remove the lid and add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom & caraway seeds. Sauté for a minute, then add water according to your rice quantity. Add coriander leaves & salt.
- Bring to a boil, then drain the rice and add to the cooking water. Discard the soaking water.
- One you add rice, bring to a boil again. Cover & turn the flame to low to simmer. Cook covered for around 10 minutes then slowly check the rice. Once it’s done, remove from the flame.
- Let it rest for 15 minutes to let the heat within finish the job. It will turn out droolingly good!
