- Add oil to a pan and saute all vegetables till the onion is mushy. Add the bay leaves, whole cumin and reserved water and bring to boil. Add the lentils in the reserve liquid
- Add the mutton and cook covered
- Add salt and sugar to taste
- When the mutton falls off the bone remove from heat and add a cube of butter (optional)
- Serve with hot rice, bread or flat bread
