Steps to make Punjabi Dal Makhni:
  1. First wash and Soak dal and kidney beans overnight in enough water then drain them well.
  2. Add them in a pressure cooker,add required water and cook for 7-8 whistles.
  3. Add tomatoes in a blender jar and make puree.keep aside.
  4. Making Dal Makhni - Heat butter in a pan add all whole spices and saute till the spices become aromatic.
  5. Add finely chopped onion and saute on low flame till they become light golden.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste,stir again and saute till the raw aroma goes away.
  7. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, stir, add chopped green chillies and tomato puree,stir well.add nutmeg powder and saute until oil comes on the surface of the masala.
  8. Add cooked dal and rajma along with it's stock,add more water as required stir well,add salt and simmer on low flame.
  9. When dal makhni has start to begun thick add cream and cook until you get desired consistency of dal.do keep on stirring at intervals.
  10. Add kasoori methi,stir well,add butter and switch off the flame.
  11. Add fresh chopped coriander and serve hot with Naan, roti or with rice.
